The BBNZ Men's TUPU League Finals, hosted by Basketball Otago, tipped off today with some thrilling action and excellent results.

After a dominant qualifying campaign, the Momentum Agency Otago Toroa carried that momentum into their opening game of pool play, securing a commanding 100-57 victory over Manawatu.
Robbie Coman was the standout scorer, finishing with an impressive 20 points, while three other players joined him in double figures: Matt Bardsley (16 pts), Chris Christof (14 pts), and Joe Ahie (11 pts).
A balanced scoring effort saw all 11 players who stepped foot on the court contribute with at least one basket, including Basketball Otago's age-group representative players: Noah McDowall (U20), Liam Boomer (U20) and Oak Chisholm (U18).
Great execution coupled with a strong defensive performance saw Otago pull away and make an early statement in the tournament.

Game two saw Otago once again reach the triple-digit mark, securing another dominant victory that clinched their spot in the quarter-finals.
Otago maintained control throughout, fueled by a well-rounded offensive effort and strong defensive play. Matt Bardsley (17 pts) and Chris Christof (16 pts) led the charge, while Matt Pyper (13 pts), Joe Ahie (12 pts) and Mitch Hughan (10 pts) also reached double-digits; showcasing the depth of scoring at Head Coach Sam Fielding's disposal.
With top spot in Pool A now secured, Otago advances directly to the quarter-finals, where they will face one of the preliminary round winners. The game will tip off tomorrow at 5:45pm at Edgar Centre.
