The Momentum Agency Otago Toroa sealed their place in the semi-finals of the BBNZ Men's TUPU League after another convincing victory.
Momentum Agency Otago Toroa - 96
Tauranga City Mariners - 58
After securing first place in Pool A yesterday, Otago reaped the rewards of bypassing the preliminary round and advanced directly to today's quarterfinal against Tauranga. The visitors had fought hard in the preliminary round narrowly defeating North Otago to earn their spot, however, they were no match for the well-rested Toroa, who jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
It was a competitive first half with great offensive action for both sides, but it was Otago who pulled away in the second half to claim a comfortable win. Robbie Coman (23 pts) and Mitch Hughan (18 pts) led the way for the hosts with Otago's age-group rep player, Chris Christof (16 pts), once again showcasing his offensive prowess.
Tomorrow's semi-final promises to be thrilling with the Momentum Agency Otago Toroa taking on Porirua at 10:45am at Edgar Centre and the day's action culminating in the Grand Final at 7:30pm.
