With final preparations completed before heading off to the Basketball New Zealand Regional Championships, our U14 rep teams took the opportunity to hold a special School Appreciation Day.
This unique event allowed our representative players to showcase their school spirit by training in their school basketball or PE uniforms, celebrating the vital role that schools across our region play in the development of our young athletes. The support from teachers, coaches and staff has been instrumental in fostering the talent and passion for basketball that these young players exhibit.
With the BBNZ Regional Championships just around the corner, today’s event served as a perfect way to wrap up preparations and as the teams came together in their school colours, the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and enthusiasm. The coaches and players are feeling energised and ready to take on the challenges ahead with the support of their schools and community.
This season's group of U14 representative players attend numerous schools across Otago including: Balmacewan Intermediate, Columba College, Dunedin North Intermediate, Fairfield, John McGlashan College, Kings High School, Otago Boys High School, Maori Hill Primary, Mount Aspiring College, Queens High School, Tahuna Normal Intermediate, Taieri College and Trinity Catholic College.
We extend our gratitude to all the schools for their support of our representative programme. Your commitment to nurturing young talent helps create a brighter future for the sport in our region. As we look forward to the championships, let’s continue to rally behind our U14 teams, cheering them on as they represent Basketball Otago with pride!
